Item 307 : The German Wehrmacht on all fronts 1939-1945
images from the private photo albums
Vol. 1 Nebelwerfer, Panzer, Flak, Funker, Gebirgsjager

The majority of the images portraying the German armed forces during World War II were shot by closely censored Kriegsberichter (war correspondents), and frequently obfuscated the actual wartime experience for propaganda purposes. In this all new series, one can look back in time and see the war through the untainted lenses of the individual Frontsoldaten, who were daring enough to capture the epic period on film. In addition to fascinating candid photos, is a carefully selected array of studio portraits. the outstanding color gallery has the exclusive privilege of featuring original period uniforms, equipment, and accessories from internationally acclaimed collectors.

Item 309 : Sturmgewehr - From firepower to striking power
It has been said that Adolf Hitler was the greatest general the allies had during World War II. Several examples of his fatefully bungled tactical decisions are discussed herein, none perhaps more significant than his refusal - on three separate occasions - to sanction the intermediate caliber assault rifle project.
Such a concept had actually originated late in World War I. Machine guns, fielded in massive numbers during the latter years of the war, soon took over most of the long range tasks previously assigned to the Gewehr 98. The realization that the 98 rifle was overlong and overpowered for close-range action led to the development of the Bergmann MP18/I maschinenpistole, which fired the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge from the 32 round snail drum of the artillery Luger pistol.

Item 318 : T80 Standard Tank -
The Soviet Army's Last Armored Champion
The T-80 Standard Tank was the last tank fielded before the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the most controversial. Despite having the most sophisticated fire controls and multi-layer armor ever fielded on a Soviet tank, it turbine power plant (rather than a controversial diesel) remained a source of considerable trouble throughtout career.

Steven J.Zaloga charts the little-known history of the T-80, covering the initial construction, through the development to the subsequent variants - the T-84 and Russian's enigmatic "Black Eagle Tank".
