Bionix History of Development - Testbeds (1993 - 1995) | |
|
|
With the
successful evaluation of the Experimental Vehicles, the project team
recommended the development of Test beds. In July 1991, the design of three
test beds were unveiled. After a period of fabrication, these vehicles
began testing in Jan 1993. At the end of the test bed phase, it was concluded that a Detroit Diesel Engine integrated with the General Dynamics HMPT-500 transmission met our specifications best. In addition, hydro pneumatic suspension was selected because of its superior ride quality while the 40/50 Cupola and the 2 man turret were selected to meet our firepower mix requirement. By end 1994, the project team was confident to move on to develop the final prototype, the last evaluation phase before series production began. |
