A brief description about the K5E collection :
The drawings are on all types of media but mostly pencil and Ink on Vellum and Linen - these are both basically acid free cloth material and not wood based. Linen and Vellum is the medium that engineering departments use - not paper. this is done so that you can draw on both sides and create composite drawings and also because Linen on Vellum last much longer than ordinary paper. Most of the time when you see period drawings you are only looking at Sepia or blueprint copies which is paper based but these are the original drawings that blueprints and paper copies would have been made from. The drawings do yellow with age a little but these have also been stored for 60 years out of sunlight etc. Some are in bad condition but these are in excellent condition (the camera also makes them look a bit better than they really are).
